Condors Announce Boomtown Bakersfield Night

BOOMTOWN, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors have announced "Boomtown Bakersfield" Night to be held on Dec. 27. This is a new title to the promotion on Dec. 27th previously announced as "Our City Isn't Bankrupt Night." In addition the team is offering a buy one ticket, get one free (of equal value) to ALL city employees of Stockton, Bakersfield, and while we're at it, any city employee of any city, anywhere!

"We don't take ourselves too seriously," said Condors Team President Matthew Riley. "The promotion was never meant to poke fun at those who are struggling due to Stockton's financial situation. So that this promotion isn't further misinterpreted, we want to put the focus of the night to highlight the city of Bakersfield's success and the continued growth of the city."

The night will still feature everyone in attendance receiving a $1 million dollar bill in addition to some receiving brand-new cars, including a Rolls Royce, meant to indicate that "Boomtown Bakersfield" is rolling in the dough. The two-for-one ticket promotion is valid for all current or past city employees with a valid city ID.

Riley, and Condors owner Jonathan Fleisig, have taken some heat in the last week from the Stockton Thunder, some Stockton media, and some Stockton residents. "We plan on getting our local dignitaries involved in the night, maybe even have a politicians-only game of broomball on the ice, because if anyone can skate on the issues - it's them," Riley said with a wink and a grin.

Although the Condors do hold an advantage over Stockton in their all-time head-to-head record on the ice, 39-24-5 (.610 winning percentage), Stockton has previously been victorious on the ice when the Condors have included the Thunder in a creative promotion . On February 20, 2010, the Condors held a toilet plunger giveaway, with the Thunder logo on the underside of the plunger, a game in which Stockton won. In that same season, the mayors of the respective cities had a friendly wager over the Stockton/Bakersfield playoff matchup, won by the Thunder.

LA KINGS STANLEY CUP CELEBRATION OCT. 14

Opening Night in Condorstown will have a championship feel as the Stanley Cup Champion LA Kings Ice Crew Girls, Street Team, and mascot Bailey will be on hand as the Condors host the Las Vegas Wranglers at 5 p.m.

The festivities will begin at 2 p.m. with inflatables, games, and more out on the plaza in front of Rabobank Arena. In addition, the first 2,000 children, 12 & under, will receive a LA Kings Stanley Cup Champion pennant to hang on their wall.
