Colorado Eagles News Release
LOVELAND, Colo. - The ECHL & the Colorado Eagles announced today additional information about the upcoming season's All-Star festivities. In a milestone season for both entities -- the ECHL will be celebrating its 25th anniversary, while the Eagles will be celebrating their 10th -- the 2013 All-Star Week, presented by CCM, will feature not only an All-Star Game, presented by University of Colorado Health, but also an All-Star Skills event, presented by OtterBox & CCM.
The All-Star Game, scheduled for Wednesday, January 23 at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo., will feature the host Eagles against a team made up of players from the rest of the league's teams. The innovative format was started by the Eagles in 2009 -- then a member of the CHL -- and its success and popularity has helped it spread to other leagues.
The All-Star Skills event is scheduled for Tuesday, January 22 (also at the Budweiser Events Center), and will feature some of the usual skills competitions hockey fans have come to love -- hardest shot, fastest skater, etc. -- in addition to new events and other activities that will be announced at a later date. At the Skills event, fans will be able to get autographs from the participating players; since 2002, 38 of the players who have taken part in the ECHL All-Star Game have gone on to play in the NHL!
Tickets for both the All-Star Game (starting at just $18) & the All-Star Skills event (starting at just $10) will go on sale Friday morning at 10 a.m. They can be purchased through www.ComcastTix.com or by calling 1-877-544-8499.
In addition to the two aforementioned events, the All-Star Week will also include an ECHL Hall of Fame Banquet, the Stanley Cup and several other festivities that hockey fans will want to be a part of. Further details will be announced throughout the coming months, and can be found at a soon-to-be active web site specific to the ECHL's All-Star festivities.
