Dream's Lindsey Harding Named WNBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week

ATLANTA, Sept. 10, 2012 - Atlanta Dream guard Lindsey Harding was named the WNBA's Eastern Conference Player of the Week presented by Boost Mobile for regular season games played September 3-9, the league office announced Monday.Harding led Atlanta to a 2-1 week, averaging 19.3 points, 6.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals to earn her first career WNBA Player of the Week award. For the week, she ranked second in the conference in assists, tied for fourth in scoring and tied for fifth in steals.
She opened the week against Indiana on Sept. 5, scoring a then-season-high 20 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter, while adding four rebounds and three assists as Atlanta knocked off the Fever. She topped that scoring mark the very next game, pouring in 23 points while dishing out seven assists and adding four rebounds and two steals in a double-overtime loss at Minnesota. Finally, she scored 15 points while tying her season high with nine assists and added two more steals in a win over Washington Sunday.
Atlanta became the first Eastern Conference team this season to have three different players earn the league's Player of the Week Award, joining Los Angeles as the only teams in the league to achieve the feat. Previously, Angel McCoughtry won the award on July 2 and Sancho Lyttle was the recipient on Aug. 27.
Minnesota Lynx forward Maya Moore was named the Western Conference Player of the Week.
Other candidates for WNBA Players of the Week presented by Boost Mobile were Chicago's Epiphanny Prince, Connecticut's Tina Charles and Indiana's Katie Douglas in the East, and, in the West, Phoenix's DeWanna Bonner, Seattle's Camille Little and Tulsa's Ivory Latta.
