Great Falls Voyagers News Release

GREAT FALLS - The Great Falls Voyagers' (36-34, 12-20) pitchers were tapped early and the offense couldn't brew a rally as the Helena Brewers (23-47, 10-22) defeated them 5-1 Friday night at Centene Stadium. The Voyagers were held scoreless after the first inning in their second loss to Helena in twelve games this season.

Helena's offense followed the exact same script as Thursday night. A two-run home run in the first by Paul Eshleman gave the Brewers a 2-0 lead against Keegan Linza (5-3). The Voyagers loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom half, but could only score once as the first of three ground ball double plays helped Helena out of the inning. Again like Thursday night, Helena added two more runs off the starter in the fourth for a 4-1 lead.

The Voyagers were unable to mount any kind of rally against the Helena bullpen after starter Damien Magnifico finished two innings. Ryan Fasano (1-0) got three scoreless innings and closed the best Voyager rally of the game when he recorded a strikeout to end the fifth with the tying run at the plate. Taylor Mangum and Connor Whalen combined for four shutout innings as the Voyagers were held to only 4 hits.

The Voyagers play game 3 against Helena Saturday night at Centene Stadium. The game features a matchup of Voyager lefty Brandon Parrent against Helena righty Tyler Wagner. The game starts at 7 PM.
