Chivas USA continues its Western Conference push when it travels to face its Northern California rival the San Jose Earthquakes. Sunday's contest is the clubs' second of three matches in the season series. The Rojiblancos and Quakes played to a 1-1 draw at Buck Shaw Stadium on May 13 behind young striker Jose Correa's first MLS goal. Vergara and Fuentes Acquire Complete Chivas USA Ownership
Chivas USA announced Wednesday that Jorge Vergara and Angelica Fuentes have acquired the remaining 50 percent of the franchise from their former partners, Antonio and Lorenzo Cue, making Vergara and Fuentes the absolute owners of MLS' Chivas USA.
"We are thrilled to acquire the remaining 50 percent of Chivas USA," said Fuentes. "We are very excited about the future that Chivas USA will have," added Vergara.
Bowen Making Immediate Impact
Forward Tristan Bowen has appeared in Chivas USA's previous three matches, recording two assists. The 21-year-old made his season debut as a sub in Colorado, made his first start of the season last Saturday against Seattle and started again Wednesday at New England. Bowen appeared in three matches for the Red-and-White last season, before spending a season long loan with Belgium's Roeselare.
Rojiblancos Continue To Be Dangerous On The Road:
Head Coach Robin Fraser's Goats continue to show they are a dangerous team on the road, as they are unbeaten in nine games away from The Home Depot.
Super Dan Kennedy Between The Posts:
Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy continues to show why he was selected as a 2012 All-Star. Kennedy has recorded seven shutouts this season and has made 84 saves for the Red-and-White, which is good enough for 3rd in MLS. The Southern California native has allowed 35 goals, for a goals against average of 1.46.
Iron Goats:
As of Aug. 25, two Goats have played all 2160 minutes of action (starting each of the 24 matches this season) - All-Star goalkeeper Dan Kennedy and right back James Riley. Left back Ante Jazic has also logged an impressive 1875 minutes, having started 21 games.
