Braves Win Pitchers Duel 2-1 over Generals Wednesday

JACKSON, TENN. (AUGUST 15, 2012) - Nate Tenbrink homered in the ninth for Jackson, breaking up the shutout, but was not enough as the M-Braves won Wednesday at Pringles Park, 2-1. The Braves take a 2-1 series lead with the win and Jackson trails Chattanooga by three games now in the second half standings.

Pitching dominated the third game of the series as the M-Braves scored first in the second inning on a double from Phil Gosselin that scored Evan Gattis from first.

The Braves mad it 2-0 in the sixth inning by adding a single from Joe Leonard that scored Joe Terdoslavich.

Jackson starter James Gillheeney (0-1) left after 5.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits, walking none and striking out 3. Gillheeney took the loss in the game.

Down the final out and strike, Tenbrink hit a solo home run to right, his 7th of the year, making it a 2-1 game. Cory Rasmus struck out Stefen Romero, the next batter to end the game.

Tenbrink posted two of the Generals six hits, going 2-for-4 with the homer. Generals relievers Jose Jiminez and Jandy Sena combined to shutout the Braves over the final 2.1 innings. David Hale (7-4) got the win for the Braves and Rasmus picked up his 4th save.

The Generals continue their six-game series in five days Thursday with game four of the set. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. RHP Brandon Maurer (8-2, 3.35) will get the start for Jackson and be opposed by RHP J.R. Graham (1-0, 4.13) for Mississippi.
