Season Finale Awaits Bullfrogs on Sunday

The Bullfrogs managed only one run on five hits in Saturday's game against the La Crosse Loggers, and fell to 33-36 on the season with an 11-1 loss.

For the second straight night, Green Bay took an early lead in the first inning. Taylor Petersen drove home Nick Stein to give the Bullfrogs a 1-0 lead through one inning.

It was all Loggers from that point forward. La Crosse pounded Bullfrog starter Bryce Bellin for eight runs, seven earned, on ten hits in 4.1 innings of work. Bellin's ERA was a league-best 1.66 entering play, and with this performance he will finish the season with an ERA of 2.61.

Trailing 1-0 going in, the Loggers scored three runs in the third inning on RBI singles from Matt Chapman and Brandon Bednar to take a 3-1 lead.

La Crosse added two more in the fourth inning on Jimmy Bosco's eighth home run of the season, a two run shot to right field.

The Loggers biggest frame of the night was the fifth, in which they ran Bellin from the game. Four runs came home on six hits to give the Loggers a 9-1 lead. Three of the four runs were charged to Bellin, who was replaced midway through the frame by Dylan Mendoza.

The Loggers had 16 hits on the night.

La Crosse scored two more runs in the sixth inning, both charged to Mendoza, to take an 11-1 lead and close out the game's scoring.

Bellin (5-3) took the loss. He gave up seven earned runs in 4.1 innings. Mendoza gave up three earned runs in 3.2 innings of work. Mac Acker walked one and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

The Bullfrogs will close out the 2012 season at Joannes Stadium tomorrow against the Loggers, who have won nine straight games and will begin postseason play on Monday. First pitch of Sunday's matinee is scheduled for 1:05 PM.
