Teague, Tukey, Complete Double Header Sweep

August 11, 2012 - Northwoods League (Northwoods) Battle Creek Bombers

BATTLE CREEK, MI - In the first double header of the season for the Battle Creek Bombers, Kyle Teague and Alex Tukey each threw complete game shutouts as the Bombers took two 1-0 games from the Eau Claire Express.

In game one, Kyle Teague threw all seven innings, giving up just two base hits striking out six. He had pinpoint accuracy with all of his pitches, and held down Eau Claire throughout the entire game. The offensive help for Teague came in the bottom of the 6th inning. Colin Willis led off with a triple, and Dylan Delaney singled down the left field line to bring him home. The Express put the tying run on third base in the 7th, but Daniel Rockett made a tremendous diving catch to end the game.

Game number two was more of the same for the Bombers. Alex Tukey got the start on the mound for Battle Creek, and matched Teague's effort from game one. Tukey gave up four hits on the night, struck out five, and only walked three. His efforts tonight lowered his All-Star earned run average to 1.58. Jeremy Shay knocked in the run for Battle Creek in the bottom of the 3rd inning with an RBI double into the left centerfield gap that scored Daniel Rockett. Once again Eau Claire put the tying run on third base in the 7th inning, but Tukey was able to get out of the jam to earn the win. Kyle Teague, who got the game two start in right field, caught the fly ball by Ty Forney with two outs in the 7th to seal the win.
