Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat announced today the signing of veteran goaltender Barry Brust to a one year American Hockey League ("AHL") contract.

Brust, a native of Swan River, Manitoba and 3rd round draft choice of the Minnesota Wild, has played a total of 11 games in the National Hockey League - making his debut during the 2006-07 season with the Los Angeles Kings. During 6 AHL seasons, Brust has earned a .919% save percentage and a 2.49 goals against average with a record of 96-71-9.

In 2010-11 Brust was a member of the Calder Cup Champion Binghamton Senators, while last season he plied his trade in Europe where he played 33 games with the Straubing Tigers (DEL) in Germany, earning a .916 save percentage.

The 2012-13 Abbotsford Heat home opener is October 12th at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre (AESC).
