Ethan Hollingsworth Named Texas League Pitcher of the Week

SPRINGDALE, AR- Ethan Hollingsworth has been selected as the Texas League Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 30-August 6, Texas League President Tom Kayser announced Monday.

Hollingsworth went 1-0 in two appearances over the past week. In his first outing July 30 against the Springfield Cardinals, he tossed six and a third scoreless innings in relief of injured starter Yordano Ventura. The right-hander allowed just four hits and notched three strikeouts.

Hollingsworth's second appearance of the week came on August 3 against the Arkansas Travelers. He entered in a tie game and threw two scoreless innings without allowing a hit to pick up his second win of the season. The Joliet, IL native is 2-7 with a 4.58 ERA in 17 games this season for the Naturals.

Marc Kraus of the Corpus Christi Hooks was named as the Player of the Week for the Texas League.

Hollingsworth is the fourth Natural to earn a player of the week honor and the third pitcher joining Chris Dwyer May 7-14 and Jake Odorizzi April 30-May 6 and Wil Myers who was also named the Texas League Player of the week for April 23-29.

Hollingsworth was acquired by the Kansas City Royals from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for Kila Ka'aihue in September of 2011. He was originally selected by the Colorado Rockies in the fourth round of the 2008 draft and traded to the Oakland Athletics for Clayton Mortenson in January of 2011.
