The flooding rains late yesterday afternoon that produced rainfall amounts of more than five inches in some locations continued to affect Minor League Baseball in Elizabethton. Due to unplayable field conditions both games that were scheduled for today between the Danville Braves and Elizabethton Twins have been cancelled.

"We did everything we could do to give us a shot at playing today and that includes tarping the field in plenty of time yesterday to get these games in," said Mike Mains, General Manager. "The problem was simply the excessive amount of rains that literally picked the tarp up which then allowed the water to flow from the outfield turf onto our infield. To say we've had enough of the rain right now is an understatement."

In addition to the poor field conditions water found its way into portions of the visiting locker room, stadium offices and the souvenir stand. "When you actually see vehicles coming through the gate to help fans leave the stadium from rising flooding waters you realize quickly how bad things can get," said Mains.

The Twins will be back at home on August 17, 7:00PM against the Kingsport Mets.
