Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Matt Magill pitched a gem of a game for the Lookouts, while Jake Lemmerman took care of business on the offensive end of the equation to lead Chattanooga to an 8-3 victory over the Mississippi Braves in Friday night action at AT&T Field.

The Lookouts came swinging right out of the gate against former Lookout pitcher Brent Leach. Chattanooga began the inning by loading the bases, and J.T. Wise drove in the first runs of the game by nailing a two-RBI single. After two outs, Anthony Jackson singled to, once again, load the bases. Jake Lemmerman then cleared the bases with a double off the left-field wall to give the Lookouts a 5-0 lead.

Both teams exchanged two-run rallies in the fourth inning. An RBI triple by Evan Gattis and RBI single from Philip Gosselin accounted from the M-Braves' runs. With runners on second and third, Lookouts starting pitcher Matt Magill helped his own cause with an RBI single, and Nick Buss eventually followed with a perfectly executed suicide squeeze to drive home Lemmerman.

Lemmerman kept his big night going with a solo shot in the sixth to augment the Lookouts' lead, 8-2.

Mississippi scored another run in the eighth inning on an Evan Gattis ground out but could not salvage anymore runs to put the score at its final resting place, 8-3.

Matt Magill improved to 9-5 on the season for the Lookouts. In 7.1 innings of work, he yielded three unearned runs, five hits, and a walk. The Southern League leader in strikeouts added to his total with a season-high 12 strikeouts.

The Chattanooga Lookouts and Mississippi Braves will continue their five-game series at 7:15 P.M., tomorrow. Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
