
Hawks Deck Cougars to Even Series

South Bend Silver Hawks News Release
The South Bend Silver Hawks (46-44, 11-9) pounded out 12 hits Thursday en route to a 9-1 win over the Kane County Cougars at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. The Silver Hawks have won four of their last five games and will try to take the series from the Cougars on Friday.
Right-hander Archie Bradley (8-5) worked six innings and earned the win, allowing just one earned run on four hits. The right-hander walked one and struck out six. Kellen Moen (3-6) took the loss for the Cougars, surrendering three earned runs on six hits over five innings.
Tom Belza and Roidany Aguila each tallied three hits for the Silver Hawks. Aguila went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and a season-high four RBIs.
The Silver Hawks put the game out of reach by scoring six runs in their final three offensive innings, including a two-run home run from Aguila in the ninth inning.
South Bend built an early 2-0 lead on an RBI single from Raul Navarro in the second inning and an RBI groundout from Ryan Court in the third. The Cougars cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom of the third, but the Silver Hawks scored seven unanswered runs to close out the game.
Leading 3-1, the Silver Hawks broke the game open with a three-run seventh inning in which eight men came to the plate. Marc Bourgeois and Belza contributed RBI singles; Aguila capped off the inning with an RBI ground out.
Court finished 2-for-5 and extended his hitting streak to ten games for the Silver Hawks. Chris Ellison went 1-for-3 with three walks and three runs scored.
Kaleb Fleck worked 1.2 scoreless innings out of the Silver Hawks bullpen. Seth Simmons went the final 1.1 innings and struck out four.
The Silver Hawks and Cougars play the rubber match Friday at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. Right-hander Tyler Green (2-4, 3.99) starts for South Bend and he will be opposed by righty Angel Baez (4-2, 2.38). First pitch is slated for 7:30 p.m. EST.
