Vancouver Canadians News Release
(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, BC) - A shaky start from Canadians RHP Eric Brown combined with a tough bounce in front of SS Jorge Flores helped the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes shake a seven-game losing streak by topping Vancouver 5-1 out at Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Sunday night.
Brown (0-3) allowed runs in each of his three innings of work as Salem-Keizer took advantage of a pair of defensive miscues by the Canadians.
In the top of the 1st inning, Brown would overthrow Vancouver 1B Balbino Fuenmayor after he handled a ground ball off the bat of Volcanoes CF Chuckie Jones that allowed SS Matt Duffy to score from second base. In the top of the 3rd inning, Brown would give up a double to LF Brennan Metzger followed by a single to SS Matthew Duffy before 1B Joe Rapp would hit a ball out to SS Jorge Flores who misplayed the ground ball allowing Metzger to score as part of a three-run inning pushing the Volcanoes lead to 5-0.
Vancouver's lone run in the loss came in the bottom of the 5th inning when CF Ian Parmley would hit his 3rd double of the season allowing C Dan Klein to score from second base to pull the Canadians to within four.
With the loss, the Canadians fall to 10-6 on the season and remain 2 1/2 games back of West Division leading Everett would fell to Eugene on Sunday afternoon.
