Burlington Bees News Release

BURLINGTON, Iowa (6/21/12) - The Burlington Bees everyday-second baseman Chih-Fang Pan will represent the Bees and the Oakland Athletics in the 2012 Futures Game on Sunday, July 8 in Kansas City. The Futures Game showcases prospects that have performed well and are generally regarded as potential big leaguers.

Pan played in 53 of the first 69 games of the Bees' season and routinely impressed fans with his play on both sides of the ball. The Bees' second baseman hit .280 in the first half with two home runs, two triples, and ten doubles.

Pan also had a .338 on base percentage and 29 RBIs. His RBI total ranked third on the team despite batting sec- ond in the lineup, which is generally not considered a great spot to drive in runs.

Pan also flashed the leather up the middle of the Bees' infield. He had the fifth best fielding percentage amongst second basemen with a .973 mark and ranked in the top ten in turning double plays.

The Taiwanese infielder will play for the World Team and is one of only six players from Low-A ball to make either the World or U.S. rosters.

Major League Baseball, the Major League Scouting Bureau, MLB.com and Baseball America compile votes to determine which prospects will make the two squads for the event. The game takes place at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City as one of the pre-2012 All-Star Game festivities in July. Michael Choice will join Pan as one of the Athletics' representatives.

Along with Pan, Bees fans will enjoy seeing Wil Myers represent the Royals in the event. Myers played for the Bees in 2010 and hit .289 with ten home runs before receiving a promotion. The former catcher turned outfield- er was hitting .328 when the Futures Game rosters were announced.
