June 9th, 2012 -- 4:05 PM

Calvin Falwell Field at Lynchburg City Stadium

RHP Scott Copeland (3-4, 5.43) vs RHP Cody Martin (5-5, 3.78)

RHP Tyler Wilson (2-1, 2.14) vs RHP Aaron Northcraft (4-4, 4.05)

THE HILLCATS: Last night, the Hillcats lost to the Frederick Keys 5-3 in game one, and 1-0 in game two...Game one saw RHP Dylan Bundy take the mound for the Keys, the Orioles' top prospect...The Hillcats scored two runs off of Bundy including a solo home run for SS Nick Ahmed, but the Keys scored three runs in the first and lead the whole game...Bundy (2-1) earned the win...Lynchburg was then shutout in the second game by RHP Eddie Gamboa who had only pitched in Double-A and Triple-A earlier this season...The Hillcats are now 30-30 and remain in first place in the Northern Division by just two games with ten to play...

VS. FREDERICK: Lynchburg leads the season series 4-3 over the Keys...This weekend they will play two doubleheaders to make up for back-to-back rainouts April 21-22 in Lynchburg earlier this year...Five games are scheduled in just three days...The Hillcats are just 1-3 at home against the Keys this year, but swept them in three games up in Frederick April 27-29...Last year, Lynchburg won the season series 11-9, and went 5-5 at home...

ANYTHING BUT TWO: The Hillcats played their third doubleheader in ten days yesterday and for the third time they were swept...Now 0-6 in twin-bill contests...The 'Cats are the only team without a win in a doubleheader game this year in the league...The Keys are now 6-9 in doubleheader affairs...They've played the most such games in the circuit...Tonight the Hillcats and Keys will play two again...It'll be the third doubleheader in five days for Frederick and fourth in eleven days for Lynchburg...

STILL IN FIRST...: Lynchburg dropped to an even .500 for the second time this season yesterday...The last time was three days ago when they were 28-28...They are still in first place in the Northern Division, just two games up on the Potomac Nationals...Based on the standings the Northern Division has clearly been the weaker division in the Carolina League this season...The Hillcats' 30-30 record is just one game better than the last place Carolina Mudcats (29-31) in the Southern Division...Lynchburg is currently 15-19 against the South as opposed to 15-11 against foes from the North...

GOOD NOT GREAT: RHP Dylan Bundy, one of the top ten prospects in minor league baseball gave up two runs on four hits, three of which went for extra bases, and walked three while striking out five...Bundy, still just 19 years-old was impressive at times but very human at others...By walking three, he doubled his career total...The homer he gave up to SS Nick Ahmed was the second of he'd allowed in his career...He was still good enough for the win and is now 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA with Frederick...

SCHLE' RIDE: C Braeden Schlehuber went 2-for-3 in game one last night with two doubles, an RBI, and a run scored...Now on a five-game hitting streak, he is 8-for-18 (.444) in the stretch with two doubles, a triple, a home run, three RBI, and five runs scored...Has raised his batting average 26 points, from .267 to .293 in that stretch...The home run was his sixth of the year, which is a new single-season career-high, and the triple was just the second one of his career...

AHHHHHHMED: SS Nick Ahmed seems to be feeling better after snapping an 0-for-23 slide last Tuesday in Myrtle Beach...Now on a five-game hitting streak...He is 7-for-21 (.333) in the span with two doubles, a home run, four RBI, and two runs scored...Had gone ten games without driving in a run from 5/26-6/5...His average has dipped from .275 to now .246 during the 0-for-23 skid...Was his lowest mark since he was batting .200 four games into the season...Currently back up to .256...His 39 runs scored rank third in the league...Also stole his 19th base of the season Thursday night which ranks first...

2012 DRAFT CLASS: The Braves selected RHP Lucas Sims with the 21st overall pick in the first round out of Brookwood HS in Snellville, GA...Overall the Braves selected 17 pitchers (14 RHP), ten OF, nine INF, and four C...Sims was one of 15 HS selections...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Scott Copeland was selected in the 21st round in 2010 after his senior year at the University of Southern Mississippi...Transferred from Panola Community College...Was four-year starter at White Oak (TX) High School, where he was a two-time All-East Texas Selection...2010, went 2-5 with a 2.91 ERA in 12 starts for Short-season Aberdeen (NYP) before earning a promotion to Low-A Delmarva, where he made one start, threw six scoreless innings and earned a win...2011, made 20 starts for Delmarva, went 5-9 with a 6.58 ERA, struck just 55 in 108 innings...Also went 3-2 with a 2.14 ERA in six starts for Frederick...This season, he is 3-4 with a 5.43 ERA through eleven starts with Frederick...Faced the Hillcats 4/19...Went six innings, gave up just one run on three hits and a walk, and struck out four...Did not get a decision...The Hillcats broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the ninth inning that night with a two-run walk-off homer from C Evan Gattis...Against Lynchburg 4/29, went five and two-thirds innings, gave up seven earned runs on 12 hits, walked three and struck out two, suffering his first loss of the season...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER, GAME TWO: RHP Tyler Wilson was selected in the tenth round by the Orioles in the 2011 draft out of the University of Virginia...The Midlothian, VA native graduated from Virginia in 2011 ranking third all-time in wins (27), only started his senior year...Was a perfect 10-0 his senior season with a 2.24 ERA...Struck out 124 in 16 starts...Made his professional debut with the GCL Orioles in 2011...Pitched three scoreless innings in two starts...Moved up to Short-season Aberdeen, where he made six starts and posted a 2.10 ERA in 30 innings...Never took a decision, had three potential wins blown by the bullpen...Struck out 24, walked four...Began 2012 with Low-A Delmarva...Recorded his first professional win in his first start on April 8...Went 3-3 with a 5.06 ERA before getting promoted to Frederick...With Frederick, he is 2-1 with a 2.14 ERA through four starts...First start against the Hillcats tonight...
