Rubber Match Awaits 66ers After 6-2 Loss
May 29, 2012 - California League (CalL) Inland Empire 66ers
The Inland Empire 66ers (24-27) fell flat on Memorial Day, dropping a 6-2 decision to the Bakersfield Blaze (27-23) Monday. In the loss C.J. Cron and Taylor Lindsey both extended their double digit hitting streaks. For the eighth straight day Inland Empire scored a run in the first inning. Travis Witherspoon singled to start the game, stole second, advanced to third on a ground ball to the right side, and scored on a sac fly.
But the lead would be short lived. By the 5th inning Inland Empire was trailing by two and despite escaping two bases loaded nobody out situations in the late innings with only one run permitted between them, the 66ers couldn't muster the offense needed tonight to get back in the win column.
A rubber match for the three game series is set for 7:30 Tuesday. The game can be heard on the home of 66ers baseball KCAA 1050 AM beginning with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pre-Game show at 7:20 pm. Inland Empire will host the Stockton Ports for a three game series starting Wednesday at San Manuel Stadium. Promotions include a Friday fireworks extravaganza on Fifty Cent Friday presented by Toyota and Scion of Redlands June 1st.
