Sioux City Explorers Opening Day Roster Announced

Sioux City Explorers News Release
Sioux City, IA - In preparation for the team's regular season opener, which is set for tomorrow night in Sioux Falls, SD, versus the Sioux Falls Fighting Pheasants, the X's have trimmed their roster down to 23 players. Per American Association rules, each club may play the first 10 days of the season with 23 players, before needing to get down to the league mandated 22 man regular season roster prior to May 27th.
The X's started spring training with (27) players on their roster and half way through spring training the X's added OF Yusuke Inoguchi to their spring training roster to bring the total number of players in spring training to the league maximum of (28).
Per American Association rules, clubs must have their opening day rosters submitted into the league office by 1:00 PM (est) on Tuesday May 15th and thus the X's had to make (5) roster moves to get down to their (23) man opening day roster. The X's have released INF Lyle Allen, OF Matt Mansilla, LHP Aaron Correa, RHP Garret Holleran, and RHP Bryan Wilde. Complete (23) man opening day roster attached.
WHATS ON DECK
The X's will open the 2012 regular season on Thursday, May 17th in Sioux Falls, SD and will return to Sioux Falls on Friday, May 18th for game two of the scheduled 4 game series versus the Pheasants. The X's and Pheasants will then square up at Lewis & Clark Park for the 2012 home opener on Saturday, May 19th before returning to Sioux Falls for game 4 of the 4 game opening series on Sunday. The X's will then return home on Monday, May 21st to play host to Central Division rival, Lincoln Saltdogs on Monday (May 21st) and Tuesday (May 22nd) before traveling to Lincoln for game three of the scheduled 4 game series, before returning to Lewis & Clark Park on Thursday, May 24th to conclude the 4 game series. All games can be heard live on 1360 KSCJ with the pre-game show starting 30 minutes prior to game time.
