Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs lost a tough one to the hometown Knights 3-2 in game three of their OHL Championship Series Monday night in London.

The first period saw the IceDogs get off to a bit of a of rough start, with London getting out to an early lead in the shot total, but Mark Visentin was up to the task keeping the game scoreless early. The IceDogs would pick up their play later in the period, but Michael Houser would also get off to a strong start, keeping it scoreless after 20. Shots in the period favoured London 10-7.

In the second, the IceDogs would open the scoring for the third straight game as Brett Ritchie would chip one in during a scramble in front for a powerplay goal to make it 1-0. The lead would unfortunately not last however as London answered right back to make it 1-1. The IceDogs would once again retake the lead as Freddie Hamilton broke in alone and buried after a Knights defensive miscue to make it 2-1. The score would remain that way until the later stages of the period when London would strike for a powerplay goal to tie things up and send things into the third tied at 2-2.

The third period would see Visentin make several solid saves, but with 3:28 remaining a London tip shot would finally beat him to give London their first lead of the game at 3-2. That would prove to be the last of the scoring as the IceDogs fell by that same 3-2 final. Final shots were 35-27 London.

Visentin was solid in the loss, stopping 32 of 35 shots.

The series now returns to Niagara on Wednesday night when the IceDogs will look to even the series once again at 2-2 in front of a sold out Gatorade Garden City Complex crowd.
