BayBears Power Past Lookouts in Win Thursday

Chattanooga, TN - The Mobile BayBears powered their way to a 9-4 victory over the Chattanooga Lookouts at AT&T Field Thursday night. Despite giving up two runs to the Lookouts in the bottom of the second inning, Mobile responded by scoring eight runs over the fifth and sixth innings. The BayBears sent all nine batters to the plate when they scored five runs in the fifth inning. Mobile added three more runs in the sixth inning.
BayBear right fielder Alfredo Marte supplied most of the damage for Mobile. Marte drove in five of the BayBears nine runs in the game. After smashing a three-run home run in the fourth inning, Marte plated two more runs with a double in the sixth. Rossmel Perez scored Marte on a single in the fifth that gave the BayBears an 8-3 lead. Brent Clevlen capped the offensive output with a solo home run in the top of the ninth.
Right-hander Trevor Bauer gave up his first home run of the season but still gave Mobile another quality start. Bauer pitched six complete innings, giving up three runs on six hits while fanning nine Lookouts en route to his fifth win of the season. Lefty reliever Brent Lorin kept Chattanooga off the bases in the seventh inning, then turned the ball over to left-hander Taylor Sinclair for the final two innings. Sinclair ran into trouble in the ninth inning but limited the Lookouts to one run on three hits over the final two innings, sealing the BayBears' 12th win of the season. The win puts
Mobile in another tie for first place in the Southern League South Division standings.
