Dayton Dragons News Release

Appleton, Wisc. - Dayton's Danny Vicioso drove in the tying run with a bloop single with two outs in the ninth inning and Jefry Sierra delivered the tie-breaking RBI single in the 10th as the Dragons came from behind to defeat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 3-1 on Thursday night. The two clubs have split the first two games of the series that will conclude Friday at Miller Park in Milwaukee. The Dragons improved to 11-10 with the win.

Trailing 1-0 in the ninth inning, Dayton's Ryan Wright led off with a single to center field. Wright stole second as Sean Buckley struck out and then advanced to third on Juan Silva's ground out to first base. Down to the final out, Vicioso followed with looper that just cleared the reach of Wisconsin first baseman Jason Rogers racing into shallow right field to bring in Wright and tie the game.

After Wisconsin was retired in order in the bottom of the ninth, Dayton's Junior Arias reached on an infield single to start the 10th. Nick O'Shea's sacrifice advanced Arias to second, and Sierra followed with a ground ball that ticked off the edge of the glove of Wisconsin second baseman Adrian Williams and carried into right field. Arias beat the throw home to give Dayton a 2-1 lead. One batter later, Wright singled hard to right field and Sierra scored to make it 3-1.

Dragons reliever Kyle McMyne (2-0) pitched a perfect bottom of the 10th as the Dragons closed out a come-from-behind victory. McMyne and Brooks Pinckard combined to throw four perfect innings of relief for the Dragons, retiring all 12 batters they faced.

Wisconsin took the lead in the second inning. Greg Hopkins reached on an infield single, stole second, and scored on a single to left by Brandon Macias to make it 1-0. It remained that way until the ninth.

Dragons starting pitcher Justice French worked the first six innings, allowing five hits and one run with no walks and eight strikeouts. He was not involved in the decision.

The Dragons collected nine hits. Sierra, Wright, Vicioso, and Arias each had two.

On Friday, the Dragons will play in a major league ballpark for the first time in franchise history when they battle the Timber Rattlers at Miller Park in Milwaukee at 8:00 p.m. (EDT). Radhames Quezada (0-2, 2.14) will start for Dayton against Wisconsin's Drew Gagnon (1-0, 0.89). The game is a Timber Rattlers home game and is the continuation of an annual opportunity for them to play one game per season at the home of their parent club, the Milwaukee Brewers. On Saturday, the Dragons travel to Beloit, Wisconsin for a three-game set with the Snappers. Saturday's series opener starts at 5:00 p.m. The next home game is Wednesday, May 2 against the Lake County Captains.
