Regional Tryouts for Sueño MLS 2012 Will Conclude this Weekend

With a record number 1,000 players already pre-registered, walk-up opportunities still available for nationally-televised search for best undiscovered young soccer player; Chivas USA and Univision personalities scheduled to appearCARSON, Calif. (Thursday, April 26, 2012) - More than 1,000 aspiring young soccer players will look to follow in the footsteps of the original Sueño MLS winner, Chivas USA's Jorge Villafaña, when the nationally-televised tryout Sueño MLS 2012 - presented by Allstate, visits the Bell Gardens Sports Complex this weekend, April 28-29, for the Chivas USA-hosted event.
Though pre-registration for Sueño MLS is full, players are encouraged to sign up in person for the "walk-up" list starting Saturday, April 28 at 8 a.m. (PT). Bell Gardens Sports Complex is located at 8000 Park Lane, Bell Gardens, CA, 90201. Leading the scouting efforts will be Chivas USA's Youth Academy Director Teddy Chronopolous.
Friends and family of participating players, as well as the general public, are invited to watch the tryouts and enjoy the interactive fan zone presented by event partners. Chivas USA's midfielder and Sueño MLS 2007 winner Jorge Villafaña, forward Alejandro Moreno, ChivaGirls, ChivaFighter, and Red-and-White-s co-owner and President Antonio Cue, as well as Univision's Rep"blica Deportiva personalities are scheduled to make special appearances.
In addition, Chivas USA will be offering exclusive on-site ticket promotions for the May 4th marquee home game against the Chicago Fire.
The more than 1,000 pre-registered players is an all-time record for Sueño MLS regional tryout participation since the program instituted an age criteria in 2009.

NOTES:
Now celebrating its sixth year, Sueño MLS 2012 - presented by Allstate is being staged by three MLS clubs, including first-time host, Seattle Sounders FC, as well as returning hosts Chivas USA and FC Dallas. Up to 400 guaranteed tryout spots were made available at each city on a first-come, first-serve basis.
In each tryout city, field players will be battling for one of five invitations to a week-long trial with their respective youth development host club and a ticket to the exciting four-day "Final Event" which will be staged in the greater Los Angeles area and hosted by MLS Argentine soccer legend Guillermo Barros Schelotto. The finals will include training sessions, scrimmages, guest celebrity scouts, and an opportunity to meet some of the League's biggest stars. The ultimate champion will be crowned on Sunday, May 13, live on Rep"blica Deportiva (see calendar below for more information).
Returning to Sueño MLS for a second year is the Allstate "Good Hands©" top goalkeeper award - El Portero Allstate. One goalkeeper at each of the three local tryouts will be selected as the top goalkeeper and will also compete in the "Final Event" for the opportunity to be named El Portero Allstate and train with a MLS youth team. El Portero Allstate will be selected in conjunction with the winner of the Sueño MLS 2012 - presented by Allstate, and mentored by Mexican goalkeeping legend Adolfo Rios.

PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY:
Eligible players must be males between the ages of 14 and 18 years old (born between dates of April 13, 1998 and May 14, 1994) with appropriate identification and retain their amateur status. Current collegiate student athletes will not be permitted to attend the final event in Carson, CA. Sueño MLS participants will be responsible for all personal expenses associated with the local market tryout, including travel to local tryouts, lodging, food, soccer equipment (shoes, training gear, etc.), etc. Program sponsors will cover all expenses for eighteen (18) participants selected to attend the final event in Carson, CA.
