St. John's IceCaps News Release
The St. John's IceCaps announced Monday they will be implementing a "Whiteout" for all home games at Mile One Centre during the 2011-12 Calder Cup playoffs.
Fans are asked to wear white clothing to each home game to help create a tough atmosphere for the visiting team, beginning Wednesday night for Game 3 of the best-of-five Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against the Syracuse Crunch.
"In the past, the 'Whiteout' has served as both an intimidation tactic and a form of unity amongst fans," said COO and Governor Glenn Stanford. "We believe that it will be an integral piece of our playoff atmosphere this year and in years to come."
The best-of-five series is currently tied 1-1. The IceCaps defeated the Crunch 3-2 on Friday night but fell 4-3 Saturday, with both games taking place at War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, NY.
Game 3 goes Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. NST while Game 4 is set for Friday, April 27, also at 7:30 p.m. Game 5, if necessary, will take place Saturday, April 28. All three games are at Mile One Centre.
