Minnesota United FC News Release
BLAINE, Minn. (April 12, 2012) - Minnesota Stars FC announced two more player signings Thursday, bringing their roster to 26 players. Thursdays signings add a forward and defender to the team's roster as it looks to defend its 2011 North American Soccer League championship.
Mba Ernest Tchoupe Ndefotsing added to backline
Cameroonian Mba Ernest Tchoupe Ndefotsing, known simply as "Ernest" to his teammates, has signed for Stars FC following a period in the Colombian league. The 25-year-old defender left his native Cameroon in 2008 to join Girardot F.C. of the Colombian second division. He moved the next season to Alianza Petrolera before finishing his stay in South America with Expreso Rojo. At 5-foot-8, he brings the Stars an additional option in the center of the pitch as well as flexibility as an outside back.
NCAA Division III player of the year joins Stars
After leading Ohio Wesleyan University to its second national championship, Travis Wall will begin his professional career with Minnesota Stars FC. In 25 games during the 2011 season, Wall recorded 19 goals and 15 assists and was named the Division III player of the year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. During his college career, the 6-foot Columbus, Ohio, native made 89 appearances for the Battling Bishops, scoring 49 goals and assisting 36 more.
Both contracts are pending league and USSF approval. Per club and North American Soccer League policy, terms of the contracts will not be disclosed.
The Stars now embark on a three-game roadtrip that will take them to Fort Lauderdale April 14, Edmonton April 22 and Atlanta April 28. The team plays its first game at NSC Stadium in Blaine, Minn., on May 5 against the Atlanta Silverbacks. Tickets to that game are available by calling (763) 792-7355.
