Red Claws Win Season Finale Over Tulsa, 84-82

PORTLAND, ME - The last game of the season had Maine Red Claws' (21-29) fans on the edge of their seats as they beat the Tulsa 66ers (23-27). Kenny Hayes once again played Maine's hero with four points in the last seconds to give Maine 84-82 buzzer win.

Maine and Tulsa matched each other almost shot for shot in the first, with Tulsa having a slight 22-20 advantage going into the second frame. The 66ers pulled ahead in this quarter, outscoring Maine 24-19, and lengthened their lead to as much as 9 by the middle of the third. With a boost of energy, Maine surged ahead to lead 64-61 going into the final frame. With .8 seconds left, Tulsa led 80-82 but Kenny Hayes worked a miracle, scoring four points for Maine to lead them to a 84-82 buzzer.

Maine's Kenny Hayes, the Adidas Player of the Game, scored 17 points to lead all Maine players in scoring. Morris Almond (13 points), Justin Brownlee (12 points) and Cedric Bozeman (11 points) also scored in the double digits. Lawrence Hill had 10 rebounds on the night, leading all Red Claws in that realm, and was 1 point shy of a double-double. Cedric Bozeman and Joe Trapani followed closely with 7 rebounds apiece.

Marcus Lewis followed last night's double-double with another (12 points and 16 rebounds) while teammate Delroy James, 18 points and 11 rebounds, also hit one. Ryan Reid and Robert Vaden scored in the double digits with 12 and 10 points respectively while Larry Owens chipped in 13 points of his own and led all players in assists with 6.

ALMOND, HAYES NAMED RED CLAWS CO-PLAYERS OF THE YEAR: Kenny Hayes and Morris Almond were presented with the 2012 Maine Red Claws Player of the Year Award, presented by PeoplesChoice Credit Union, prior to tonight's game as co-winners of the inaugural award. Each player was presented with a framed and matted image of themselves in action this season, designed by Mike McSweeney. The winners were selected by online and in-arena vote.
