Red Wings Roll in Exhbition 10-0
March 22, 2012 - International League (IL) Rochester Red Wings
The Red Wings blew out the Durham Bulls, the Tampa Bay Rays Triple A affiliate, 10-0 on Thursday in a Spring Training exhibition game at the Lee County Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Florida.First baseman Aaron Bates led an 11 hit attack going 3 for 5 with two doubles. Centerfielder Rene Tosoni was 1 for 3 with a 2-run double for the Wings in a five-run 7th inning.
On the mound, Twins RHP Scott Baker worked the first two innings before giving way to RHP Daryl Thompson who pitched three sharp innings allowing just two hits. RHP Brad Thompson, RHP Anthony Slama and LHP Tyler Robertson also pitched for the Wings.
"We pitched well and hit well today," said new Red Wings manager Gene Glynn. "But what I really liked was our upbeat attitude in the dugout and how guys are really pulling for each other."
The Red Wings record is now 4-3-1 in exhibition action. The Wings will play Durham again on Friday afternoon in an exhibition game the Rays spring training facility in Port Charlotte, FL.
