SPRINGFIELD, MA - The Springfield Armor announced today that they have acquired six-year NBA veteran Zendon Hamilton from the NBA Development League's available player pool. To make room on the roster, the Armor waived David Akinyooye.

Hamilton, a 6-11, 250 pound forward/center out of St. John's, has played in 134 games over six seasons (2000-06) with seven NBA teams since going undrafted in the 1998 NBA Draft. Hamilton's best season came in 2001-02 with the Denver Nuggets, when he played in a career-high 54 games and picked up the only 15 starts of his NBA career. He averaged 6.0 points and 4.7 rebounds in 15.7 minutes per game. Hamilton holds career NBA averages of 4.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 11.6 minutes per game in stints with the Nuggets (2001-02), Los Angeles Clippers (2000-01), Toronto Raptors (2002-03), Philadelphia 76ers (2003-04, 2005-06), Houston Rockets (2004-05), Milwaukee Bucks (2004-05) and Cleveland Cavaliers (2005-06). The well-traveled Hamilton has also played professionally in Spain, Greece, the Continental Basketball Association (CBA), Poland, Russia, Syria and most recently, the Ukraine, during his 13-year career.

Hamilton, a native of Queens, NY, was a four-time All-Big East selection during his standout career at St. John's. He earned Big East All-Rookie honors in 1994-95 and was named to the All-Big East second team three times (1995-98). As a senior, he helped lead the Red Storm to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1993.

Prior to enrolling at St. John's, Hamilton starred at Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, NY, earning McDonald's All-American honors during his senior season.

Hamilton will wear jersey No. 41 and will be available when the Armor hit the road to take on the Tulsa 66ers on Friday at 8:00 PM ET.
