Lord Stanley Coming to Wichita on March 18th

Wichita, KS (March 8th) - The Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League is excited to announce that the Stanley Cup will be in the building when the Thunder host the Arizona Sundogs on Sunday, March 18th at 5:05 p.m. This will be the first time the Cup has been at a Thunder game since 1998.
"We are thrilled to be able to have such an important piece of sports history on display for our fans", said Thunder GM Joel T. Lomurno. "The Stanley Cup is the most recognizable trophy in sports and is even more awe inspiring up close."
The Stanley Cup is the oldest trophy competed for by professional athletes in North America. It is awarded annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs champion and was first awarded in 1893. Unlike the trophies awarded by the other three major professional sports leagues of North America, a new cup is not made each year and the winners keep it until the next champion is crowned. The cup has the names of all of the winning players, coaches, management and club staff engraved on it. Currently, the Boston Bruins are the reigning Stanley Cup champions.
The Cup will be on display on the concourse for fans to view and take pictures during the game.
