
Lancers F Anthony Hamburg Commits to RIT

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Lancers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) are pleased to announce that forward Anthony Hamburg has committed to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and will join the Tigers in the Fall of 2012. A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Hamburg is in his third season with the Lancers and is currently seventh among all Omaha skaters in overall scoring with 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) this season. In 133 career games with the Lancers (including postseason), Hamburg has tallied 20 goals, 50 assists and 70 points to go along with 109 penalty minutes.
The 6'1", 190 pound forward split time last season between Colgate University and Omaha. After tallying three assists in seven games at Colgate at the start of last season, Hamburg decommitted and returned to Omaha where he recorded six goals, 14 assists and 20 points in 31 games with the Lancers. During his USHL rookie campaign during the 2009-2010 season, Hamburg registered five goals, 17 assists and 22 points in 54 games. The future RIT Tiger was originally selected 242nd overall (Round 19) by Omaha in the 2009 USHL Entry Draft and was selected 194th overall (Round 7) by the Minnesota Wild in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Four other players currently on USHL rosters are already committed to RIT including F Woody Hudson (IND), D Alexander Kuqali (IND), F Andrew Miller (CHI) and D Bradley Shumway (CHI).
Omaha (28-15-3, 59 pts.) returns to action Friday evening when the Lancers wrap up a four-game road swing with a trip to Kearney, Nebraska for a showdown with the Tri-City Storm. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Omaha then returns home for games Saturday and Sunday.
