Omaha Lancers News Release

Omaha, Neb. - Josh Erickson scored two goals and David Henry registered three points as the Sioux City Musketeers doubled up the Omaha Lancers 6-3 Tuesday evening in front of 1,786 fans at the Tyson Events Center. Following the setback, the Lancers dipped to 26-15-3 on the year but maintain sole possession of first place in the Western Conference with 55 standings points. The loss, coupled with Saturday's setback to the Indiana Ice, marks the first time since late November that Omaha has fallen in back-to-back games.

Omaha grabbed the game's opening marker 9:27 into the first period when, while on the power play, Max Vallis pounced on a right wing rebound before sending in his 13th goal of the season. Mark Miller and Anthony Hamburg assisted on the man-advantage tally, which marked the 23rd time in 44 games this season that the Lancers have scored the game's first goal. Sioux City evened the game a little over four minutes later when Brad Robbins executed a brilliant move on the right wing before blasting a right wing slap shot over the glove of Omaha goaltender Alex Lyon. Sioux City netminder Austin Priebe earned the only assist on Robbins' team-leading 20th goal of the season. The Musketeers then grabbed their first lead of the night 18:14 into the opening period of play when David Henry jumped on a left wing rebound before driving in his 10th goal of the year. Jordan Boucher-Gould and Alexander Kuqali assisted on the even strength marker.

Sioux City stretched its lead to a 3-1 advantage 5:30 into the second period when Kyle Criscuolo cleaned up a rebound in the Lancers goal crease for his 15th goal of the season. Robbins earned the only assist producing his 11th multi-point game of the season. The Lancers climbed back to within a single goal with another power play marker as Kenney Morrison lifted a seeing-eye wrist shot from the high slot off the left post and into the back of the Musketeers cage. Casey Bailey and Greg Gozzo assisted on Morrison's 10th goal of the season and team-leading ninth man-advantage marker this season. Sioux City reestablished its two-goal advantage less than six minutes later when Erickson banged in his first of two goals on the night and fifth marker of the season. Henry and Andy Ryan assisted on the even strength goal which gave the Musketeers a 4-2 lead through two periods.

Omaha remained resilient and worked itself back to within a single goal 5:21 into the third period when Tanner Lane executed a slick play at the side of the net before popping in his eighth goal of the season. Hamburg earned the only assist on the Lancers lone even strength goal scored in the game. The Musketeers put the game away though with a pair of goals in the final four minutes of regulation. First, Erickson netted his second of the game and sixth goal of the season 16:16 into the third period. Then, Sioux City capped its night with David Goodwin's empty net goal with just 23 seconds left in regulation time. The unassisted marker was Goodwin's 19th tally this season.

Priebe earned the victory in goal after 21 saves on 24 Lancers shots to improve to 3-6 on the year. Meanwhile, Lyon suffered the loss in goal for Omaha after 16 saves on 21 Musketeers shots.

The Lancers are back in this Friday evening when the team travels to the Scheels Arena in Fargo for a 7:35 PM showdown with the Force.
