HIDALGO, TEXAS -- The Rio Grande Valley Vipers fell 130-97 to the Texas Legends Sunday evening at the State Farm Arena. *Marcus Morris* led the Vipers with 22 points, and *Alondo Tucker* led the Legends with 27 points.
Tucker started the Legends offense in the first quarter with a layup and a 3-point jump shot to put Texas up by five points. A 28' 3-point shot from *Kelvin Lewis*, followed by a layup from Morris inched the Vipers within one point, 11-10 at the 6:10 mark. Tucker responded with another 3-point shot and a few plays later, *Dominique Johnson* also added 3-point jump shot. Soon the Legends were up 23-12. *Lee Humphrey* answered for the Vipers with three shots from behind the arc and *Will Conroy* connected on a driving layup to end the quarter behind 32-23.
Humphrey connected twice more for the Vipers at the beginning of the second quarter to cut the deficit to 34-29. The Legends' Sean Williams responded with a layup and one shot at the line, but a dunk from *Will Foster* helped the Vipers get within four points, 37-33. The Legends slowly built their lead, but a shot from behind the arc by Lewis set the Vipers within four points again 46-42 with 5:18 remaining on the clock. Back-to-back 3-point shots from *Booker Woodfox* gave Texas a burst of momentum that sent them into halftime with 66-46 lead.
Texas controlled most of the third quarter. *Marshall Brown* connected from downtown and again with a slam dunk to cut the Vipers deficit to 73-58. *Stanley Asumnu* also contributed a layup to keep the Vipers deficit at 15 points, 75-60 midway through the third. It was not enough to stop the Legends from holding the 95-70 lead at the end of the quarter.
The Vipers were not able to turn things around in the fourth quarter. Morris shot down two threes and Lewis contributed one from behind the arc, but the Vipers were not able to stop the Legends. Texas claimed the game 130-97.
The Vipers saw five players record double figures. Morris led the way with 22 points, followed by Conroy with 17 points and 13 assists.
Seven Legends reached double digits. Tucker led with 27 points. Woodfox chipped in 20 points, and Williams notched a double-double 11 points, 10 rebounds.
