Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release

CARSON, CA - Chivas USA traveled to Oxnard College once again this Saturday afternoon to square off against MLS Eastern Conference rival Chicago Fire and fell by the slim margin of 0-1 at Oxnard College's Soccer Stadium in a pre-season scrimmage.

First half of action ended as it began, a 0-0 tie for Coach Fraser's 4-3-3 line up. Goats had several opportunities that just would not convert in the 13th, 16th, 23rd and 28th minutes. In the 36th another for Courtois on a service from Minda, that Fire's GK Gargan blocked. The second half for the Rojiblancos would initiate with 4 subs, including Melia at keeper, Villafaña at left back for Jazic, Vagenas at midfield for LaBrocca, and Smith at forward for Courtois. The Fire would take the lead in the 49th minute with a left footed strike from Daniel Paladini on an unassisted goal. In the 58th minute Alejandro Moreno chipped a shot over Fire GK Jay Nolly that was all but in the net, only to be denied by defender Kwame Watson-Siriboe who managed to knock the ball out just before it entered the goal. In the 60th minute, Coach Robin Fraser would sub the rest of the starting XI for a completely new line-up to play in the last 30 minutes. Goats' defender and USMNT U-23's standout Jorge Villafaña would repay Watson-Siriboe in the 88th minute as he too would kick out of the goal a header from Kwame, to maintain the 0-1 deficit.

Chivas USA will next face off in a preseason SuperClasico against the LA Galaxy, next Thursday February 16 at The Home Depot Center. Log onto cdchivasusa.com for all news Goats!
