
Defense Leads Tulsa to 85-79 Win Over Reno

TULSA, Okla., Feb. 2, 2012 - The Tulsa 66ers (14-13) recorded an 85-79 home victory over the Reno Bighorns (14-13) Thursday night behind a 66ers season-high 31 points from Jerome Dyson, 10 points and 14 rebounds from Ryan Reid and 10 points and 13 boards from Marcus Lewis.
Also scoring in double-figures for the 66ers was Robert Vaden with 12 and Brady Morningstar with 10. It marked the 16th time this season at least five 66ers boasted double-digit scoring.
As a team, the 66ers racked up 19 assists on 33 made buckets, led by Dyson and Vaden with four dishes each.
Tulsa's defense was strong by forcing 21 turnovers and creating nine steals, led by Lewis with four thefts. The Bighorns, who had scored over 100 points in 10 consecutive games entering Thursday's contest, were held to 25-of-67 (.373) shooting on the night.
"I thought our second half defense was where it needed to be," 66ers head coach Dale Osbourne said. "Our players did a great job of challenging shots and playing without fouling."
Leading Reno was Mo Charlo with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Andre Emmett notched 16 points and Terrance Thomas dished out a team-high four assists.
The Tulsa 66ers return to action this weekend with back-to-back home games against the Texas Legends on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4 and 5. Oklahoma City Thunder game entertainment will be on hand for Saturday's contest, which will tip at 7 p.m. CT inside the Tulsa Convention Center.
