"We are excited that we were able to sign a former NCAA All-American to our football team," said Stars Head Coach Chris Williams. "He has all the tools to be the most dominant defensive lineman in the IFL."
Erasmus James' intensity and explosive talent was best displayed during his Senior season at the University of Wisconsin during the 2004 season when he recorded 36 tackles (11.5 tackles for loss), 8 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. James was recognized for he efforts when he was named as a First-team All-American, First-team All-Big Ten, the Big Ten Defense Lineman of the Year, the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and the Bill Willis Award given annually to the Nation's Top Collegiate Defensive Lineman.
The Stars also announced today that they will be holding their second open tryout at the Rio Rancho Rams Field on Saturday, December 3 at 9 a.m. with check in starting at 8 a.m. Potential players are asked to pre-register at www.newmexicostars.com for a $50 cash fee and walk ups can register the day of for a $60 cash fee.
