Dennis Horner Returns to Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA- The Springfield Armor announced today that they have reacquired forward Dennis Horner after he cleared NBA waivers this morning. To make room on the roster, the Armor waived David Akinyooye.

Horner returns to the Armor from the team's NBA affiliate, the New Jersey Nets, after he earned a GATORADE NBA Call-Up to the Nets' opening night roster. Horner appeared in five games off the bench with the Nets, scoring 4 points in 8 minutes in his NBA debut against the Atlanta Hawks on Dec. 27. Prior to joining the Nets, Horner played in three games (all starts) with the Armor, averaging 15.0 points and 7.7 rebounds in 30.0 minutes per game. The Armor selected Horner with the 47th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Development League Draft.

Akinyooye, a rookie out of Adelphi University, appeared in 18 games off the bench with the Armor, averaging 4.9 points and 3.2 rebounds in 15.5 minutes per game.

Horner will be available tomorrow night when the Armor take on the Dakota Wizards at 8:00 PM EST at the Bismarck Civic Center.
