Stampede Weekly Update: Herd Host Sioux City this Wednesday Night

The Sioux Falls Stampede (11-17-1) will play their third game in four days tonight when they travel to Fargo to face the Force at 7:05 PM. Fargo has won six straight games and is 15-13-3, good enough for fourth place in the Western Conference. The Herd are 1-1-0 against Fargo this season.

The Herd return home on Wednesday when they host the Sioux City Musketeers at 7:05 PM. The Muskies hold a one point lead over the Stampede for sixth place in the West. The top six teams in each conference qualify for the playoffs. The Musketeers have taken the first two games between these two teams.

Tonight (Monday) is the first of four Stampede viewing parties at Buffalo Wild Wings! Fans can catch the game against Fargo on all the TV big screens at both Sioux Falls locations (behind Pheasants stadium on West Avenue & the new South Louise Avenue location) starting at 7 PM.

Below are the remaining dates for viewing parties at Buffalo Wild Wings this season:

* Friday, January 27th vs Sioux City 7 PM

* Friday, February 10th at Des Moines 7 PM

* Friday, March 2nd at Sioux City 7 PM

Stampede acquire star forward from Muskegon

The Stampede announced on Thursday they acquired forward Travis Belohrad from the Muskegon Lumberjacks in exchange for a draft pick in the 2012 USHL Draft.

The Brighton, Colorado native was second in scoring for the Lumberjacks with 15 points (9g, 6a) in 25 games. He arrived in Sioux Falls on Friday and skated in both games with the Stampede over the weekend.

Hartzell leading the way at Quinnipiac

Former Stampede goaltender Eric Hartzell (2006-09)is having an all-star season at Quinnipiac. The junior earned his seventh win of the season on Friday while stopping 26 shots in a 7-1 victory over Colgate. Hartzell (7-4-5) is second in the country with a 1.94 Goals-Against-Average and a .920 save percentage. He has allowed two or fewer goals in all but three starts this season. The Bobcats (13-8-5) host Harvard and Dartmouth this weekend.

Connolly leads nation in scoring

Former Stampede star Jack Connolly (2007-08) tallied two assists for Minnesota-Duluth in a 6-2 win over Nebraska-Omaha on Friday and a goal in a 3-1 loss to the Mavericks on Saturday.

Connolly enters this week as the top scorer in all of college hockey with 36 points (13g, 23a) in 22 games. He is averaging 1.64 points per-game and has five powerplay goals this season.

Meanwhile, former forward Kyle Rau (2010-11) is the top scorer amongst all college freshman at the University of Minnesota with 25 points (13g, 12a) in 23 games....Max Strang (2006-08) is the top goalie in the Atlantic Hockey Conference with an 11-9-2 record, a 2.74 GAA and a .922 save percentage. The Lakers are a league best 10-3-2 on the season.
