Donald Lutz to Appear on WONE WednesdayNovember 29, 2011 - Midwest League (MWL) - Dayton Dragons
Lutz was added to the Cincinnati Reds 40-man roster earlier this month. He was a key member of the 2011 Dragons club that set a club record for victories while going 83-57.
In 2011, Lutz became just the second player in Dragons history to hit at least .300 and belt at least 20 home runs, joining Austin Kearns. Lutz finished at .301 with 20 homers and 75 runs batted in. Also in 2011, Lutz became the first Dragons player to hit for the cycle in a game and tied the club record for most multi-home run games in a season with three.
Lutz was born in New York but raised in Germany and signed with the Reds as an international free agent in 2007. He has shown rapid improvement over the last two seasons and emerged as one of the Midwest League's top hitters in the second half this season when he batted .340 in 63 games with 11 home runs and 51 runs batted in.
Lutz is one of two members of the 2011 Dragons on the Reds' current major league roster (right-handed pitcher Kyle Lotzkar is the other).
The Dragons will open their 13th season in the Midwest League on April 5, 2012 against the West Michigan Whitecaps at Fifth Third Field.
