Rivermen Acquire Shaun Heshka

Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced Wednesday that club has acquired defenseman Shaun Heshka from the Binghamton Senators in exchange for future considerations. In a separate move, the Rivermen have signed forward Pete MacArthur to a professional tryout contract.

Heshka, 26, has appeared in 10 games with the defending Calder Cup champion Senators and has one assist and six penalty minutes this season. Now in his sixth professional season, Heshka spent last year with EC Red Bull Salzburg in Austria. He registered 24 points (six goals, 18 assists) in 50 games and also recorded a plus-13 rating.

The 6-1, 208-pound native of Melville, SK is a veteran of 284 games in the AHL and has also seen action in eight NHL games with the Phoenix Coyotes. In his time with the Manitoba Moose, San Antonio Rampage and Senators he has scored 21 goals and added 75 assists.

MacArthur, 26, joins the Rivermen from the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL. In 14 games this season, he has already recorded 15 points (three goals, 12 assists). His 12 assists lead the entire ECHL. Last season, appeared in 21 games with the AHL's San Antonio Rampage and has played in 165 career AHL games.

His most successful season was with the Rockford IceHogs in 2009-10 when he set career highs in assists (34), points (42) and games played. He has also played for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, on an amateur tryout contract, following his senior season at Boston University (2007-08).
