BAKERSFIELD, November 10, 2011 - The schedule for the four-day, 16-game, NBA Development League Showcase, which features all 16 teams competing between Jan. 9-12, was released today. The eighth annual event, hosted this season by the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority, will take place at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nev., home of the NBA D-League's Reno Bighorns. NBA TV will air 12 Showcase games -- eight of them live (see full schedule below).

The Bakersfield Jam will take on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Monday, January 9 at 3:30 pm and the Idaho Stampede on Wednesday, January 11 at 12:45 pm, which will air live on NBA TV.

The NBA D-League Showcase welcomes general managers, player personnel staff, and scouts from each of the 30 NBA teams who will be in attendance to evaluate the league's talent. Conceived prior to the 2004-05 season, the NBA D-League Showcase provides an opportunity for NBA D-League players and coaches to perform in front of NBA general managers, player personnel executives and scouts over four consecutive days at one location. The 2012 event will feature each NBA D-League team competing in two games each over four days.

Among the intriguing Showcase matchups:

The Los Angeles D-Fenders, led by point guard Jamaal Tinsley, the top overall selection in the 2011 NBA D-League Draft, take on guard JamesOn Curry and the Springfield Armor in a game carried by NBA TV (Jan. 9, 12:45 p.m. PT). The Bakersfield Jam and newly-acquired veteran Renaldo Major will face the Fort Wayne Mad Ants and Walker Russell (Jan. 9, 3:30 p.m. PT). The Austin Toros and their returning scoring/rebounding leader Leo Lyons battle the BayHawks on NBA TV (Jan. 10, 12:45 p.m. PT). The Maine Red Claws and collegiate standouts Paul Harris (Syracuse) and Durrell Summers (Michigan State) will take on the Sioux Falls Skyforce (Jan. 10, 10 a.m. PT) The hometown Reno Bighorns and recently acquired guard Blake Ahearn, one of the league's top returning scorers, compete against the defending champion Iowa Energy (Jan. 11, 7 p.m. PT).

Twenty-three percent of players on 2010-11 NBA end-of-season rosters had NBA D-League experience, many of whom participated in an NBA D-League Showcase since its inception in 2005. During its seven-year history, more than 30 NBA D-League players have earned GATORADE Call-Ups from the NBA D-League to the NBA during or after the NBA D-League Showcase; while an even larger number benefited from the exposure afforded them at the NBA D-League Showcase.

Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster (sales locations, by phone at 800-745-3000 or the website ( www.ticketmaster.com/event/17004758DD0B5EAF), Silver Legacy Box Office and the Reno Events Center Box Office.

The NBA Development League, founded in 2001, is the NBA's official minor league. Featuring 16 teams with direct affiliations to NBA franchises, the NBA D-League is a proven developer of talent: 23 percent of players in the NBA at the conclusion of the 2010-11 season boasted NBA D-League experience, and the league continues to develop coaches, referees, and front-office staff for the NBA and its teams. In fostering the league's connection to the community, its teams, players and staff promote health and wellness, support local needs and interests, and assist in educational development through NBA D-League Cares programs. The NBA D-League also advances the game of basketball as the research and development arm of the NBA. Throughout the league's upcoming 11th season, fans can watch all NBA D-League games on NBA FUTURECAST, the free live Web-streaming initiative found at nba.com/futurecast.
