PORTLAND, MAINE - The Stars and Stripes Corvette Raffle, conducted by the Red Claws Foundation, will conclude this Thursday with Portland Mayor Nick Mavodones drawing the winning entry just after 5 PM. The drawing will take place at the offices of the Maine Red Claws, located at 413 Congress Street in Portland.

"While one lucky individual is going to drive away in a great car tomorrow, the fact of the matter is that this 4th of July we are all lucky - lucky to live in an amazing city where the community comes together to keep a century-long tradition alive," said Mayor Mavodones. "The Stars and Stripes Spectacular wouldn't be possible if businesses, small and large, and residents, lifetime and newly relocated, hadn't stepped forward when the city needed help and I thank them."

A maximum of 1,000 tickets will be sold for the raffle, with the winner taking home a 2010 Corvette convertible valued at approximately $65,000. Tickets are $100 and will be sold until 4:59 PM on Thursday, September 15 or while supplies last. The car was provided by Quirk Chevrolet, the presenting sponsor of the Maine Red Claws, and will be on display daily outside the Red Claws Congress Street. Tickets are available by calling 207-210-6655 or in person at the Red Claws offices located at 413 Congress Street in Portland or at Quirk Chevrolet located at 1000 Brighton Avenue in Portland.

"As of today, about 600 tickets have been sold which means everyone who has entered has a really good chance at driving away in a beautiful convertible," said Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings. "Where else can you have 1-in-600 or even 1-in-1000 odds of winning anything let alone a $65,000 convertible -

Proceeds from the raffle will go to support the 2012 Stars and Stripes Spectacular, the largest annual event in Maine. The Stars and Stripes Spectacular, a public-private partnership with the city of Portland, is entirely privately supported through donations and corporate sponsorships. This past summer's event included a free Patriotic Pops concert by the Portland Symphony Orchestra, a special performance by Maine comedian Bob Marley and a fireworks display over Casco Bay.

"The Stars and Stripes Spectacular is the largest July 4th celebration north of Boston, and we hope that it will be a treasured tradition for Maine families for many years to come," said Jack Quirk, President of Quirk Chevrolet. "We need the community's involvement to insure that the event continues. By purchasing a raffle ticket, they can not only take a chance at winning a gorgeous car but can help insure the show goes on for years to come."

"So many businesses and individuals come together to put on a spectacular event on the Eastern Prom each July 4th," said Jennings. "It's a huge undertaking and one we hope to continue to expand and enhance each year. This raffle will help ensure that the Stars and Stripes Spectacular is even more spectacular in 2012."
