Two Rawhide Players Selected to Post-Season League All-Star Team
August 31, 2011 - California League (CalL1)
Visalia Rawhide News Release
VISALIA-David Nick was named as the best second baseman in the California League this Year, and Tyler Skaggs was selected as one of the league's four top pitchers, California League President Charlie Blaney announced today.
Voting was conducted among league managers, coaches, and executives.
Nick, 21, has batted over .300 for Visalia entering the final week of the season, with 13 homers and 66 RBIs while spending much of the season as Visalia's leadoff hitter. He has been a model of consistency, collecting more at-bats than anyone in the league and amassing the 2nd-highest hit total.
Skaggs, 20, posted a 3.22 ERA in 17 starts with the Rawhide before being promoted to AA Mobile in early July. He amassed a league-leading 125 strikeouts in 100 innings while holding opposing hitters to a .219 batting average.
Visalia's season concludes in Modesto on September 5th.
