
Stingrays Add AHL Experience to 2011-12 Roster

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today that the team agreed to terms with forward Matt Pope. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Pope, 27, skated in 55 games last season with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (AHL) netting four goals and seven assists for 11 points. In addition to San Antonio, the Langley, British Columbia, native has also seen time in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose and Binghamton Senators totaling 22 points (11g, 11a) in 107 games.
Selected as a starter for the 2009 ECHL All-Star Game in Reading, Pennsylvania, and named to the 2009 ECHL All-Rookie Team, Pope began his professional career with the Bakersfield Condors (2008-09) recording 63 points (30g, 33a) in 54 contests. He also saw action with the Condors during the 2009-10 campaign burying four goals and four assists for eight points in six games. Prior to turning pro, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound forward skated for four seasons at Bemidji State University earning 71 points (33g, 38a) in 143 games.
