Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas, Nev. - Kyle Hagel, formerly of the Las Vegas Wranglers, was signed to a two-way contract with the St. Louis Blues of the NHL in May 2011.
Hagel spent the majority of his 2009-10 season with the Wranglers, where he scored seven goals and eight assists for 15 points in 42 games played. The 6'0, 205-pound forward also racked up 77 penalty minutes during his tenure with Las Vegas.
"Hagel is an example of what being committed at the ECHL level is all about," Wranglers Head Coach and General Manager Ryan Mougenel said. "His commitment to the game to get better and get stronger is unparalleled, and he's earned everything that he's gotten. We look forward to Kyle achieving his dream of playing in the NHL."
Last year, Hagel signed with the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL, affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks. He appeared in 77 games and racked up five goals, eight assists and 245 penalty minutes. Hagel also played nine games with the IceHogs in 2009-10.
"Las Vegas led to an opportunity in Rockford, and being at that next level everyday was a new way to attack every game," Hagel said. "When you're that much closer to the NHL, you can taste it, and it was very motivating."
The Wranglers host Opening Night, billed as "The Last Professional Hockey Game on Earth," on Friday, October 21st, 2011 at 7:05 PM against Ontario. 2011-12 season seat packages are on sale now at (702) 471-PUCK. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Area, located adjacent to the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
