Sporting Kansas City News Release

Sporting Kansas City will resume regular season MLS play when they face the Houston Dynamo on Saturday at Robertson Stadium. The match will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. CT with live TV coverage on KSMO beginning at 7:00 p.m CT.

The Dynamo, who joined the Eastern Conference prior to the 2011 season, lead the all-time series against Sporting Kansas City with a 5-2-3 record. After winning the first-ever meeting in 2006, Sporting Kansas City have not won at Houston in the last four seasons.

This is the second meeting between the two sides in 2011, but the first in regular season MLS play. Rookie C.J. Sapong scored in the 92nd minute and goalkeeper Eric Kronberg made six saves to secure a 1-0 win in extra time for Sporting Kansas City when the two sides squared off in College Station, Texas, during the first round of qualifying for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on April 6th.

Houston (5-6-8), currently sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, enter Saturday night's contest coming off of a 2-0 win at home over Toronto FC last weekend. The win snapped a three-match winless streak that saw Houston heldscoreless against the Columbus Crew and the Colorado Rapids.

Houston could be without defender Eddie Robinson who is still recovering from a left knee sprain as well as forward Cam Weaver, who is listed as questionable with a right hip strain. Defender Jermaine Taylor is listed as probable after suffering a right ankle sprain. For Sporting Kansas City, captain Davy Arnaud will be out after undergoing successful sports hernia surgery last week. Defender Julio Cesar is listed as doubtful with a left hamstring strain and midfielder Craig Rocastle is still rehabbing his right knee following a sprain suffered while playing for Grenada at this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup. Midfielder Graham Zusi has been upgraded to probable after leaving the match against Chivas USA last weekend due to a left ankle sprain. KSMO-TV will again air a 30-minute pre-game show hosted by play-by-play announcer Callum Williams, in addition to their weekly soccer show, 'Off the Pitch' with Sporting Kansas City, on Sunday at 9:30 p.m. CT.
