July 4th Corvette Raffle Launches Tomorrow

PORTLAND, Maine - The July 4th Portland Foundation today announced the launch of a raffle of a brand-new, 2010 Corvette Convertible to benefit the Stars and Stripes Spectacular. Just 1,000 raffle tickets will be available to the raffle which will be conducted by the Maine Red Claws Foundation with all proceeds going to benefit the privately-funded Stars and Stripes Spectacular. Tickets are $100, and the drawing for the winner is scheduled for September 15.

The raffle will officially kick off tomorrow at the Maine Mall where the Corvette Convertible will be on display in the garden court located near Best Buy through the weekend, and volunteers from the Maine Red Claws Foundation, will sell raffle tickets. WBLM 102.9 FM, WCYY 94.3 FM, WHOM 94.9 FM and WJBQ 97.9 FM will all be on hand at different times throughout the weekend with street teams and live remotes to assist with the fundraiser, offering prizes that will include Red Claws tickets and oil changes courtesy of Quirk Chevrolet.

Tickets for the raffle are available at the Maine Red Claws offices located at 413 Congress Street in Portland, at Quirk Chevrolet located at 1000 Brighton Avenue in Portland and online at www.july4thportland.org. Tickets will also be available throughout the summer wherever the Corvette is displayed, including the upcoming Old Port Festival and the 2011 Stars and Stripes Spectacular. STARS AND STRIPES SPECTACULAR: The second annual Stars and Stripes Spectacular will be held on Portland's Eastern Promenade on Monday, July 4 and will be headlined by a free Patriotic Pops concert by the Portland Symphony Orchestra leading into a spectacular fireworks display over Casco Bay. Maine's largest annual Independence Day celebration, the Stars and Stripes Spectacular is privately funded by the July 4th Portland Foundation, which was formed by founding members from The Portland Press Herald, Quirk Chevrolet, Wright Express and the Maine Red Claws following the elimination of the traditional fireworks show from the City of Portland's budget. More than 60,000 spectators viewed the inaugural event last summer, with tens of thousands more watching the fireworks from nearby towns and listening to the concert on the radio.
