Leave It to Beaver Night, Christmas in July Promotions Announced

Wisconsin Rapids, WI - April 14, 2011. The Rafters have announced two more exciting promotions for the upcoming season. On Thursday, July 21st The Payroll Company will present "Leave it to Beaver Night" featuring Eddie Haskell. Just four days later "Christmas in July" will provide fans with an early taste of the holiday spirit.

Actor Ken Osmond, who played Eddie Haskell on the sitcom Leave It to Beaver, will be making an appearance at Historic Witter Field on Thursday, July 21st for "Leave It to Beaver Night," presented by The Payroll Company. Gates for the event will open at 6:05 p.m. and Osmond will be on hand for autographs.

Ken Osmond is best known for his role as Wally Cleaver's smart-mouthed, best friend Eddie Haskell, on the series Leave It to Beaver, from its beginning in 1957 until its cancellation in 1963. Osmond received a Youth in Films Lifetime Achievement Award for his work as Eddie on the sitcom. After the show ended, Osmond continued to make occasional appearances in television and movies before ending his career as an actor. Following his early acting career Osmond founded a charter helicopter company with his brother, and also became a police officer. He spent 18 years as an officer with the Los Angeles Police Department before retiring after withstanding multiple gunshot wounds during an attempted arrest. Osmond returned to television from 1983 to 1989 playing Eddie Haskell in the movie Still the Beaver and Eddie Haskell Sr. in the television show The New Leave It to Beaver that also featured his real sons, Eric and Christian.

Then, if you can't wait until December for a little holiday cheer, make sure to join the Rafters on Monday, July 25, for "Christmas in July," when the Rafters take on the Waterloo Bucks. Gates for the evening's holiday-themed event will open at 6:05 p.m. Wear your favorite holiday gear, participate in holiday games, and listen to some of your favorite holiday tunes.

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters are members of the 16-team summer collegiate Northwoods League. The Rafters will play a 70 game schedule with 35 home games in 2011. Opening Day at Historic Witter Field is scheduled for Wednesday, June 1 at 7:05pm vs. the Madison Mallards. The 2011 Northwoods League All-Star Game will be held in Wisconsin Rapids. The All-Star festivities will begin on Sunday, July 17th with the Marshfield Clinic Home Run Health Fest beginning at 2pm. On Monday, July 18th the Northwoods League North Division All-Stars will take on the All-Stars from the South Division in the League's 17th Annual All-Star contest beginning at 7:05pm. Mark your calendars, as single game tickets will go on sale beginning Saturday, April 30th.
