Black Hawks Announce "Bench Buddies"

Waterloo, Iowa-The Waterloo Black Hawks are pleased to announce a new partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Black Hawk County and United Sport and Athlete (USA) Inc. to promote youth health and fitness activities.

The "Bench Buddies" Program brings all three organizations together to help promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle to youth of the Cedar Valley. Sixteen members from the Black Hawks team have paired up with a Poyner Elementary Boys & Girls Club site member for a twelve week fitness program. The program is broken up into four, three-week sessions. Participants will experience training in Tae Kwando, boxing, Olympic weight lifting and group fitness at United Sport and Athlete's facility in Waterloo.

"Our team is thrilled to be participating in the Bench Buddies program. Staying active is so important for today's youth," said Shawna Rowe, the Black Hawks' Vice President of Business Operations. "This program will be a wonderful partnership between the three organizations involved; I hope it continues for many years to come."

Trainers from USA Inc. will instruct the pairs during each session. USA, Inc. is a non-profit company devoted to the betterment of youth in communities through elite sports programming. USA, Inc. is designed to bring high level coaching and athletic opportunities to youth regardless of socio-economic status.

The Bench Buddies program wouldn't be possible without the support of sponsors Mudd Advertising, Lockard Companies, Lincoln Savings Bank, Doerfer Companies, and Cedar Valley Medical Specialists.

Boys and Girls Club participants will also receive a free t-shirt and ticket vouchers to Black Hawks games.
