Carolina Mudcats News Release

Zebulon, NC --- The Carolina Mudcats have announced that their 2011 broadcast package will be expanded to include HD Radio and national audio distribution on the leading mobile devices including Blackberry, iPhone and Android.

Clear Channel Raleigh's WRDU-FM HD2 will serve as the team's flagship station for all 140 regular season games providing coverage throughout the five county region. WRDU-FM 106.1 will also carry all 22 Saturday night games live on their standard FM channel now also available in high definition.

First Media's WZAX-FM ( ‚¬Å“Jammin 99.3 ‚¬Â) will join the Mudcats Network for approximately 95 regular season games providing early in the week FM radio coverage for the team in Rocky Mount, Wilson, Zebulon and eastern Wake County.

For the first time, all 2011 Mudcats games will also be heard nationwide on the leading mobile devices via the ‚¬Å“Tunein Radio ‚¬Â application. Smart Phone adoption has exploded in 2010 and is expected to account for nearly 40% all local cell phone use by this spring according to published research. Over 90% of Americans carry cell phones with most expected to eventually convert to these Smart Phones.

‚¬Å“Clear Channel is pleased to bring the Mudcats brand of family entertainment to WRDU as a way to introduce more people to HD radio, ‚¬Â said Clear Channel's Market Manager Dick Harlow. WRDU HD-2 normally programs a Country format.

Portable HD radios provide excellent audio quality and are now for sale at leading retailers for as little as $50. Installed HD receivers are also now a core element of entertainment packages offered by many leading automakers including Ford, BMW, Hyundai, Kia, Lincoln, Volvo, VW and others. More than three thousand broadcast stations nationwide have made the commitment to upgrade to the new HD technology.

Mudcats listeners will also be able to access the play-by-play broadcasts via the team's www.carolinamudcats.com website or inside Five County Stadium live on the team's in-house stadium FM transmitter.

‚¬Å“Listeners are now accessing radio via multiple platforms including HD radio, the Internet and Smart Phones in addition to traditional FM and AM radio, ‚¬Â continued Harlow. ‚¬Å“Clear Channel is the nation's leader in providing content across all those platforms. HD Radio brings outstanding CD quality audio to your home or car - with added features such as song ID ‚¬Å“tagging. ‚¬Â HD Radio is free and does not charge a monthly fee like satellite radio. ‚¬Â

‚¬Å“It's time to look beyond traditional radio and make our team's broadcasts available on the many new media devices where more and more baseball fans are getting their radio content, ‚¬Â said Mudcats owner Steve Bryant. ‚¬Å“We are pleased to be able to make that happen this season. ‚¬Â

Award-winning regional radio and television sports broadcaster Patrick Kinas will return for his 13th season as Mudcats ‚¬Å“Voice ‚¬Â joined frequently by retired Valpak President Joe Bourdow who is returning for his 9th season in the Mudcats booth.

St. Petersburg, Florida based Play-by-Play Sports Properties, LLC, a company-owned by Kinas and Bourdow, will again produce the broadcasts for the Mudcats in 2011.

The Carolina Mudcats' 21st season opens April 7th at home with the Mobile Bay Bears. Consumers in 140,000 Raleigh homes will begin receiving ticket offers inside Valpak envelopes in March on special Mudcats Radio inserts. The special offers will also be available online at www.Valpak.com.

The Mudcats are the AA affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds and recently announced they will play in the Advanced A Carolina League beginning in 2012.
