Reigning ECHL MVP Donati Returns to Jackals
December 1, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL) - Elmira Jackals News Release
The Elmira Jackals announced Wednesday that right wing Tyler Donati, the 2009-2010 CCM U+ ECHL Most Valuable Player, has been assigned to the club by the AHL's Connecticut Whale.
Last season, Donati led the league with 114 points and 76 assists, both Jackals single-season records. The Oakville, Ontario native also topped the ECHL with 44 power-play points and 35 power-play assists.
Donati and twin brother and current Jackals center Justin Donati became the first brothers in professional hockey history to each reach 100 points while playing on the same team in one season last year. He was named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for February, the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week twice, and was selected to the 2009-2010 All-ECHL First Team. Donati's 17-game point streak from Jan. 22 to Mar. 5 (17g-24a) was the longest in the league last season.
The 24-year old has skated in eight games this season with the Whale.
COULOMBE, TURNER IN BINGHAMTON
Defensemen Patrick Coulombe and Brennan Turner are now with the Jackals' AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. Coulombe was loaned by the Jackals to the B-Sens today, while Turner, who is under contract with Binghamton, was recalled by the club.
Coulombe is tied for the Jackals' scoring lead among defenseman with 13 points (4g-9a) and has played in three games with Binghamton this season. Turner is second on the Jackals with 55 penalty minutes and has a goal and five assists for six points in 18 games in 2010-2011.
JACKALS TRADE MAHBOD TO STINGRAYS
The Jackals also announced Wednesday that they have traded rookie forward Samson Mahbod to the South Carolina Stingrays in exchange for financial considerations.
Mahbod had six points (2g-4a) in nine games with Elmira.
