Fort Wayne, IN, October 11, 2010 - The Fort Wayne Mad Ants announced today that Steve Gansey has been named assistant coach for the 2010-2011 season. This will be Gansey's second year with the team, as he served as a volunteer assistant under head coach Joey Meyer during the 2009-2010 season.

"I am extremely excited to have someone as talented as Steve Gansey join our staff. Steve is smart, passionate, and has a work ethic that is second to none," said Mad Ants President Jeff Potter. "He is one of the top young coaches in our league, and he was a huge part of our strong finish last season. He and Joey make a fantastic coaching staff, and I feel our basketball team is in great hands."

Last season Gansey played a vital role in developing Mad Ants Rob Kurz and Oliver Lafayette, who each earned an NBA Call-Up at the conclusion of the Mad Ants season.

Gansey worked for Priority Sports and Entertainment in Chicago as a basketball operations intern during the summer of 2009. Prior to that, he served as an assistant coach for the USA U19 National Basketball Team, where he helped develop players like Stephen Curry, Michael Beasley, and 2010 NBA Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans.

Gansey played at Cleveland State, where he played for Coach Mike Garland. Following Coach Garland's departure from Cleveland State, Gansey spent his junior and senior years playing for Ashland University.

"I am looking forward to the opportunity to help develop players and get them to the next level," Gansey said. "I have learned a ton from Coach Meyer over the past year and I'm excited for the upcoming season."

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Steve has five older brothers. Brother Mike played for West Virginia University before a successful career in the D-League, where he was a member of the 2010 NBA Development League Select Team.

The Mad Ants 2010-2011 season kicks off on Sunday, November 21st at Memorial Coliseum with season tickets starting at just $99. For ticket information contact the Mad Ants office at (260) 469-4667.
